OF CUTE LITTLE THING, PROMISES AND IMAGES OF KOTA KINABALU...

I did this cute little thing called Charm Bracelet (at least that's what I think it is haha..) in between watching some TV programmes. Believe me it is cuter in real life than it is in this picture. That's what happens when the lazy bum that I am, feel that my taking my heavy SLR camera  from the bag was too much of a hassle.  Anyway, the camera from my mobile is a useful tool for situations like this. But serve me right..the result is appalling to say the least. Oh well...

I was told that I am expected to be able to name the materials used in this CLT (cute little thing), but haha.. I do not have the slightest idea what they are, save for the Cabochon Pink Rose and Antique Silver Charm Butterfly.

My promise to a friend to feature a landmark of Kota Kinabalu, the oldest hotel here - the Jesselton Hotel finally fullfilled..phew.. my apologies again for the delay. Again my apologies for the appalling images.. (appalling seems to be my fav word nowadays ..lol).

And so, luckily I found this (pic below) on the Net..their advert page I think...

I understand that many famous  people have visited The Jesselton Hotel including the British aristocrat Lady Edwina Mountbatten during her reception that was held by the 20th Governor Turnbull; and boxer Mohammad Ali in which he fought Joe Bugner in Kuala Lumpur on the 30th June 1975 and won on unanimous decision and came through Jesselton on the way to Manila.      (ok, I copied these info from this link).  :)

As seen from the sidewalk.

Pic above, picture of an old coin pasted on the walls of one of the shops at Gaya Street.  This was one of the coins used in the olden days .. 2 1/2 cents.. I wonder how much it is worth now.  Interesting..

Sunday Gaya Street Fair.. they sell almost everything ... need a parang?

A cafe at the Australia Place,  behind Gaya Street, featuring the olden days of KK when it used to be called Jesselton.

The unique menu

and food is not bad too.

Picture above taken from the archive of my photographs taken more than a year ago.
Seen here is the Marina Court Resort Condominium, a service apartment, shown here, the part that has the best view - overlooking the alluring South China Sea.. see below, until some developers decided to develop the front area - see left of picture above. The houseowners fought tooth and nail to have the development plans revoked - they lost...    life has no guarantee.

  2. Hi my dear beautiful friend IndaMarya

hey..so nice to know that you had visited KK before. I hope you had a good time. Yes Marina Court used to have gorgeous views of the South China Sea. It still is beautiful tapi kan, depan tu dah ada construction of new shopping malls etc etc. Ahh so you went to the market too. Fresh seafood and murah skit compared to KL I think. If you come, please let me know. We go paint the town red hahaha..

  5. Hi Angie, love that beautiful bracelet, very creative. And a few of your pics of KK brought back memories to me. I love the harbour or seafront.
I remember having couple of dinners there.
Love the pics, taken only by a person who appreciates the finer points of buildings, architecture, scenes missed by others. You are very observant.

Last pic you pointing to a bottle? Is that Tongkat Ali powder? Ha ha ha. Love that red blouse miniskirt outfit. You got it?
Have a great week, keep well.
    Best regards.
    Lee.

    1. Hi Lee
thank you for liking that charm bracelet. If you not far away, I would create something nice for Mrs Lee...hehe..a lady can never have enough accessories.
Hey, glad the pics of KK brought back lovely memories. Thanks for the sweet comments too.

Some part of the seafront facing the South China Sea has been re constructed and some very nice restaurant too. Lots of people love to go and have a drink or dine there and watch the spectacular sunset.

Haha.. aiyaa.. laughed so much when you asked whether the one I pointed is Tongkat Ali...haha..I don't remember but I don't think so. This is an old shop with old fashion set up. This is one of the few that retain it's olden days look...very nostalgic. You don't find many like this anymore..
Ohh.. love the red blouse too but pity I do not have legs like that to wear that mini skirt. Perhaps 20 years ago can lah... hahaha..
Have a nice day Lee and take care.

  6. Marina Court condo used to command high prices due to the seaview. But who can stop people from building more buildings on the sea front. There was a policy/or act mooted some years back to stop further development but nothing concrete came out of it i think.

Anyway, still, KK is so beautiful in so many ways. Great captures there.

    1. I heard about the policy too when the houseowners brought up their case. I guess those in the authorities hold the reins. Perhaps some personal interests involved too hahaha..
